Chad GPT5.1
is the smartest AI model ever released.
The issue is if you don't prompt it
correctly, your results will be
horrible. After using Chad GPT 5.1
non-stop since it released, I've come up
with a prompting system that will make
your results 10 times better. I promise
you, if you steal the prompt I'm about
to give you, you'll be oneshotting
things with AI you never thought
possible. Let's get into it. So, I came
with this master GPT 5.1 prompt. I'm
about to show you step by step here.
We'll go through all six stages. I'll
explain the reasoning behind it, why
they're so important, and at the end,
you can just copy and paste the entire
prompt and use it exactly how you want.
These all came directly from Open AI.
So, a few days ago, they released this
prompting guide, which is this massive,
massive blog post that will take you
hours to read. But what I did is I went
through it and I boiled down the six
most important points in that blog post
and I turned it into this master prompt.
So now you can just take it and use it
on your own. So let's get right into it.
Let's go into the first point here and
that is giving the AI a very clear
personality. So talking about the
verbosity, the directness, the
criticality, customization. The main
theme with chat GBT 5.1 is it is the
best model ever at following your
instructions. The issue is if you don't
give it clear instructions, if you don't
give it a clear task, a clear
personality, it is not going to follow
your instructions very well. So you have
to be very clear about what it's going
to do for you. And if you give it that
clear detail, you're going to get the
best results ever. So the first thing
you want to do is give it a very clear
personality. But what does that mean? So
the first part of the prompt we're going
to go through is personality. I like
structuring my prompts like this so it
becomes very clear to the AI what we are
describing. The first thing we're going
to describe is the personality. Chad GPT
5.1 is the greatest model ever when it
comes to following instructions. The
issue is if you don't include
instructions, it might go off the rails
and not talk to you the way you want it
to talk to you. So you want to be very
clear about the personality. You want to
be very clear about the verbosity, how
clear it is, how direct it is, things
like that. And so here is a personality
we are going to use for the example
we're going to be doing in this video.
The AI is going to help us be an AI app
planner. It's going to help us plan apps
we're going to build out. Basically be
like a product manager. So here is the
personality I'm giving it. It is very
critical you are very verbose with your
planning. Do not just affirm everything
I'm saying. So verbosity is actually a
very big variable specifically with this
model. You want to be very clear about
how verbose you want the model to be. If
you want to be very verbose, give you
tons of detail, you should be clear
about it. If you don't want to be very
verbose and keep the answer short, be
clear about that as well. So the first
thing I always go into is how verbose I
want to be. I want you to be very
verbose with your planning. Do not just
affirm everything I'm saying and are
critical of my ideas. so I know when I'm
wrong. This is another thing. Chad GBT
can tend to glaze sometimes, right? It
can tend to tell you, "Oh, you're the
best. You're doing everything right.
Your idea is brilliant." So, you want to
be very clear when you want to not just
be affirming everything you're saying,
but when you want it to be critical as
well. So, we're going to be very clear
that we don't want you just affirm
everything I'm saying. Be very critical
of my ideas, too, and use concise
language. So, that might sound like it
goes against each other, but we want it
to be verbose, but get straight to the
point and use concise languaging. If
you're anything like me, these
instructions I just gave here are
probably what I want with every response
from Chad GBT. So, here's a little hack
for you. If you click in the bottom left
and then click on personalization, you
can give custom instructions to your AI.
They've also included a whole ton of new
bass styles and tones you can just use
out of the box. But I use these custom
instructions. I'll copy and paste them
down below so you can just steal them
and use them for yourself. I've gotten
great results with these custom
instructions. But I have be extremely
direct and not afraid of offending me.
You can tell me when I'm wrong. Tell me
when there are better ways to do things.
Think from a first principles
perspective and use logic and logic
only. Disregard my feelings. Our goal is
to build revolutionary products that
solve challenges and change people's
lives. Affirming my feelings and caring
about telling me I'm great don't matter
nearly as much as giving me the best
solution humanly possible. I use 5.1
primarily for bouncing ideas, coming up
with new novel creative ideas. And this
is what I found to be the best way to
get that. So I'll include that down
below. Feel free to copy and paste that
and put that into your personality
section yourself. But that will really
really do a great job of shaping the
personality because again 5.1 smartest
model ever. You just need to be very
very clear with your instructions cuz
they will follow them to a tea. So we
covered the personality shaping the
personality of the AI we want to talk
to. The next thing we want to do in our
prompt is give a very clear role to the
AI. So next line down I do roll in all
caps. You are an AI app planner that
will help me plan an app we will build.
So we're giving it a very clear concise
role, preferably in just one sentence
that tells it the role it wants to take.
And the reason why this is so important
is this is going to shape the
perspective it does its research from
when you hit enter. Again, 5.1 very good
at following instructions, but if you
don't give it that perspective to use
when it's doing research, it might go
off the rails and give you a weird
perspective. So we give it a role. you
are an AI app planner. If you even want
to take it up a notch, I found that if
you just include the word senior, it
makes it even better. So, you are a
senior AI app planner. And what that
forces it to do when it goes online,
does research, looks at its data, it'll
look to see how the best of the best do
things. So, even including senior is a
little hack right there you can use. The
next part of our master prompt we want
to give is the task. So, we wanted to be
very clear about what we wanted to do
and the actions we wanted to take. So,
the task is this. I want to build a vibe
coding community app that includes
educational content. Help me plan what
this experience would be like. So, I'm
being very clear about what my idea is
and I'm making it very clear what I
wanted to do. I wanted to help plan this
out. What would make this the best
experience possible? What would make
this the most educational and give the
most value? This is actually something I
literally did over the last couple weeks
that got me fantastic results. I'm
planning on launching the Vibe Coding
Academy in a couple weeks. Link to my
newsletter if you want details on that
when that comes out. But giving it this
very specific task to plan out this
entire experience helped get me
incredibly good results. You want to
keep it simple. One or two sentences
again for the task. Be clear about
exactly what you want it to do. It's
going to be amazing at following
instructions. You just need to give the
right instructions. This next one is a
very big one and that is being very
clear about the outcome and results you
want from this task. In the prompting
guide that OpenAI gave on GPT 5.1, it
stresses many times over being very
clear about what the outcome you want
is, what you want that answer to be in
the format of that answer you want from
the AI. So this example they give is
from a prompt building a coding agent
and in it look how clear they are on the
prompt they're giving and the outcome
they want. They're saying we want the
outcome to be a small tiny file change.
Do not include certain narration. they
they go down to very specific detail on
the exact outcome they want from this
prompt. So, we're going to do that in
our prompt. So, here's the outcome. I
put in complete product requirements
document that shows an outline of our
community app. What the full user flow
should be like, what the styling should
be like, what the onboarding should be
like, what the road map should be like,
and steps to increase retention and
engagement. You want to be very very
clear about what you want the AI to
deliver us in the outcome, the
formatting, everything it should be
giving to you. If I didn't include this
outcome, it could be giving us results
that really aren't that helpful. And
it's also all right if you don't really
know what outcome you want at the end of
this. The final step is actually going
to be showing you how to figure this out
if you if you don't know how to figure
out outcomes or tasks yourself. But if
you know your outcome, you need to be
very clear about it because again, it's
going to be really, really good at
following these instructions and giving
you exactly what you want. And you might
be thinking as we're halfway through
this, oh, these are tons of steps. This
shouldn't be necessary. A good AI model
shouldn't need to do this. This is a
waste of my time. No, no, no. This is a
very smart AI model. And it may feel
like you're spending a lot more time
writing these prompts, but at the end of
the day, you're actually saving time
because you're going to get way better
results the first time around and not
need to do follow-up prompts two, three,
four times after. So, you really want to
make sure you're including all these
personality, role, task, and outcome
with every prompt you do. These last two
steps in our master GPT 5.1 prompt are
going to be a lot simpler than the other
ones. They're basically going to be
flags. Flags that we want to turn on for
the model. One of these flags we want to
turn on are persistence. Right? So in
this GPT 5.1 guide, OpenAI talks a lot
about persistence. If you give 5.1 much
longer or more complex tasks, a lot of
time it it might not go all the way to
the end of the solution or the outcome.
And there's a reason for this. 5.1 is
incredibly good at being efficient on
simple tasks and not using a ton of
tokens, but it's also really good at
much longer tasks and running for hours
and getting you massive solutions. The
issue is it's not always perfect at
figuring out which one it needs to do.
Should it be very efficient and just use
a few tokens or should it work for hours
and hours and hours? So, if you have a
very complex prompt like the one we're
building here where we want a full
product requirements document, it's
important we make sure we're clear to
the AI, hey, this is a complex task. We
want you to make sure you're persistent
all the way to the end of this task. And
so, you can see it uses this flag here
with solution persistence. Persist until
the task is fully handled end to end.
So, in our prompt, I'm back here. We
have a new section we just put in
persistence. persist until the task is
fully handled end to end. You're going
to want to use this for any sort of long
form prompt where we want a lot of
research done or we want a long task.
And if it's a simple question like,
"Hey, what's the weather outside?" You
probably don't need to say persist until
you have the answer. But for prompts
like this, which if you're anything like
me, you're doing this a ton. You're
constantly brainstorming, coming up with
creative, novel ideas. You want to make
sure it persists until the task is fully
handled end to end. And they actually
have a ton on this in the cookbook. I'll
I'll leave the link down below to the
cookbook as well, so you can read
through this. It's super long, but they
talk about this persistence a lot. And
the last part of our 5.1 prompt is using
metaprompting. There is a ton in this
cookbook about metaring. So they have an
entire section for metaprompting in
here, but basically metaprompting is
having the AI reflect on the prompt to
improve the prompt. And the reason why
we have this entire video on improving
the prompting is having a good prompt is
one of the most important things you can
do. And they say it here, don't take my
word for it. Building prompts can be
cumbersome, but it's also the highest
leverage thing you can do to resolve
model behavior issues. Small inclusions
can unexpectedly steer the model
undesiraably. So, we want to make sure
we have a good prompt here. And the way
we do that is through metaprompting. But
how do you do that? They give a ton of
instructions on here, a super long
explanation of what you need to be
doing. I'll give you a very simple
explanation right here. So, at the end
of my prompt, before the first time I
send it, I'm going to say this. Before
we execute this prompt fully, please
examine it, understand the roles and
outcomes, then let me know how we can
improve this prompt to get even better
results. And what this is going to do
when I hit send is the AI is actually
going to read through our entire prompt,
understand what it needs to do. its
task, its role, what the outcome we want
is, and then it's actually going to
reflect on it and give us
recommendations on how we can improve
this prompt so we can get way better
results. Again, this might feel like we
are doing a lot of extra work and taking
a lot of extra time and doing a whole
lot of extra steps, but if you're doing
something complex, this is actually
going to save you a ton of time in the
long run because you're not going to
need to do a 100 follow-ups as prompt to
get the results you want. you're going
to get it right the first time. So you
can just get extremely good results and
move on to your next step. So as you can
see here, here are the results of the
meta prompt. What's underspecified right
now? Who this is for, the platform and
scope we're going to be having this
community app on, the business model, AI
integrations, not giving it enough
constraints, and then it tells us
exactly what we need to add to improve
this prompt and get the results we want.
And then boom, if you scroll down even
further, we can just copy and paste this
prompt. It gave us a better prompt. So,
this took maybe 45 seconds for us to get
back. But we got a way better prompt
that we can now use. Look at all this.
It even structures the output for us. It
gives us the platform. It It makes the
task more descriptive. It gives us a
descriptive business model. And it even
tells us the style it needs to be using.
Even the personality is a lot more
detailed and descriptive. So, if we take
this, we're going to get way better
results. So, let's paste that in and
actually see what we get. So, I paste
that in. and says this is specific
enough that we can actually build from
it. So it likes this prompt a lot
better. Below is the full PRD and then
boom, look at all this user personas and
jobs to be done. Information
architecture, right? It talks about
everything we need to do with each
lesson in the dashboard challenges,
projects, community, AI coach, full user
flows. This is way more detailed than
what we would have gotten if we just
did, hey, can you build me a plan for
our AI app? And I promise you the moment
I'm done filming this video, I'm going
to go through this and improve uh the
Vibe Coding Academy. Again, link down
below to my newsletter if you want
information on the Vibe Coding Academy
right when it launches. But this is
pretty amazing, these results. This
master prompt for 5.1 is down in the
description below. Feel free to copy
this, paste it into Notion or Apple
Notes or whatever you're using, and then
whenever you have a very long complex
task with 5.1, you use that. I don't
think you need to use this with every
single prompt you give to 5.1. That'd be
way too much work. If you're doing
something simple, you don't need to use
this master prompt. But if you're doing
something complex, which I think you
should probably be doing every single
day, whether it's bouncing ideas for
apps you want to build, whether it's
planning your next business line,
whether it's planning content, I think
you should be doing complex tasks like
this every single day. But you don't
need to use this for every single
prompt. But when you do those complex
things, the results you're going to get
are a hundred times better. 5.1 has
totally blown me away. It has been the
most creative AI model I've ever used.
And so when I do things like this,
figuring out ideas for businesses and
new products, it has been amazing. Let
me know down below what's the first task
you're going to give 5.1 with this new
master prompt. I want to see how other
people are using 5.1 at the moment
because I'm really, really happy with
the results I'm getting from it as well.
