In this video, we answer two common questions about Flagger: 1) Do we have to install Flux to use Flagger? No. Flagger is part of the Flux family and works great with GitOps, but it’s not required. We run Flagger alongside tools like Argo CD, Jenkins, Tekton, or GitHub Actions—or even without a GitOps controller—as long as Kubernetes and a supported service mesh/ingress are in place. 2) Where should you go next to try it out? We point you to flagger.app and docs.flagger.app for tutorials and guides. Our quickstart path: pick your platform (Istio, Linkerd, NGINX, Traefik, App Mesh), install via Helm, deploy a sample app, and create your first Canary CR to watch Flagger shift traffic safely and roll back on failures.
