Terraform is widely used for provisioning infrastructure, but teams still face challenges with unmanaged resources and Day-2 operations that often live outside Terraform. Manual scripts, external tools, and ad-hoc fixes usually fill the gap. With the introduction of Terraform Search and Terraform Actions, these challenges can now be addressed directly in Terraform. Terraform Search helps you discover and adopt existing resources into code, while Terraform Actions let you automate operational tasks like cache invalidation or instance restarts as part of your workflow. In this session, I’ll provide a hands-on demo showing how these features work in practice, from writing simple queries to invoking actions tied to resource lifecycle events. Attendees will see real examples, learn best practices, and understand the limitations to watch for. By the end, you’ll have the knowledge to start applying Search and Actions in your own projects to bring Day-2 operations into code.
